evaluation

For my OTS (opening title sequence)  I decided to make a opening for the Super Smash Bros series a game franchise marked as a action fantasy targeted to a range of age groups as for the research I did into the genre when coming up with ideas we watched old student work as well as other opening sequences for tv series after that I watched a compilation of all the smash bros opening sequences and decided to reinvent the already made openings, the research I did was useful to me because it gave me a good idea as to what standard I should be making my work to i decided to use similar clips from the old openings like character naming and perspective game this works as like a character introduction i also used animated clips of characters fighting to get accross the action genre of the game, however I think I should have done more audience research in to things like preferred length of the OTS and things I should have included so I used the old smash bros openings as a guideline for what things I should include and as well as the passing of the opening and the music i should use , the reason i didn't use any typography is the smash bros franchise logo also works as the title of the game and doesn't contain any credits or text this is a convention of game OTS’s .

Time management wasn't a big problem for me I was able to finish my project by the set deadline and upload it to youtube and link it to facebook however if I had been give more time I think I would have been able add more effects and create a much higher quality product however we weren't give that time and so I did what I could with that time I think I should have edited my work more outside of the lessons this would have made a lot of difference; My work uses a lot of jump cuts and making use of use of the smash bros fire transition clip. The fast past timing of the clip fits the action genre theme well and the light hearted music gives it that fantasy feeling the only thing I would change is the music timing with the videos some time the music feels a little out of place and I would have liked to add some kind of glitch effect between the Sonic part and the footage  however I ran out of time and was not able to add that part.

The video and images I used fits the genre and its codes and conveniences well I think as well as keeping the original feeling of the smash bros games, the game is based around fighting and I think my OTS gets this across well as well as giving a comparison between the pixel games and the HD new ones.

Next time I would like to time the music better, use adobe after effects more, experiment more with transitions and plan my time better.

proposal smash bros HD Game title sequence

Add caption

For my title sequence i plan on making a opening sequence to super smash bros a 3rd person fighting game i'm going to have a basic pixel Sonic map with pixel characters running around then have the games name fall down over the top then use footage from the older trailers of the game to create a contrast between the old generation characters and the new HD ones for font the game has its own font and layout for the title so i'm going to use them as it works as a logo for the franchise.

adobe after effects

week 2
Today we were interdicted to adobe after effects a software we are going to be using to create a title sequence of are own design.

week 3
we have learned about masking text as well as boxes on Adobe After effects we used masking to play flames in side the text as well as well revising using transformations etc rotation, scale, position and opacity.

week 4
we learned about anchor points and using "parent" to stick layers together  we have also started thinking about are opening title sequences. I have decided to do a title sequence to a Mario vs sonic (game a made up game) these games share similar traits and i have begun collecting character models for the sequence.

·       A ‘Bond Girl’.  A Bond girl is represented in a degrading way, whereby Bond himself is irresistible to them and ends up having an intimate relationship with at least one woman.   The role of the woman in James Bond films has changed significantly in recent years to that of a stronger more independent character.
·       Violence.  Demonstrating the brave and powerful role of a secret service agent.  Bond will always come out on top. (Stunts)
·       Bond Music.  James Bond as a franchise has it’s own infamous theme tune, it is instantly recognisable and can be played in some way or another at any point in the film, it usually backs a ‘successful’ moment/victory in the film.
·       And most importantly… James Bond himself!  James Bond is a convention of every film.  An upper class secret agent whose bravery and skill knows no limits.  He always beats his enemies and often has to break the rules in order to save the day.  (A hero)
